About Craig Carothers

Picture

Craig Carothers lived in Portland before it was hip and moved to Nashville before it was ready for prime time. He’s always been a little ahead of the curve and an old school kind of cool. His music is heartbreakingly beautiful and scathingly funny, delivered with a lively deadpan smile and a voice that’s downright swoony.

Too folk for rock, too pop for folk, too jazz for country, too tall to be a jockey. It's difficult to easily categorize his music without the use of hyphens. But the wide-ranging influences of Craig’s music-teacher parents can be heard in each of his 20 albums.

As a touring musician and a regular at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Craig has shared a stage with the likes of Richard Thompson, Janis Ian, David Wilcox, Patty Larkin, and Michael McDonald.

He’s a songwriter’s songwriter, sharing co-writes with Bruce Hornsby, Don Schlitz, Maia Sharp, and Marty Stewart, to name a few. He’s had songs recorded by Trisha Yearwood, Kathy Mattea, Lorrie Morgan, Russell Hitchcock, Peter, Paul and Mary, and numerous European artists whose names are unspellable.

As an adjunct professor, Craig shares his songwriting expertise at the University of Miami and through online and in-person songwriting workshops across the U.S. and Europe.

He is also a producer, recording engineer, background singer, booking agent, graphic designer, photographer, Tex-Mex connoisseur, left-wing inactivist, and a collector of exquisitely obsolete gadgets. A true Renaissance man.

His latest release "Alpenglow," is available at live shows, as well as CDbaby, Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, and all other digital streaming providers.

About the Zoom Concert

There are no tickets for this exclusive online concert experience, though reservations are required as the Zoom platform limits  the number of logins.

After presenting a dozen or so concerts featuring or including Craig Carothers over the years, were so excited to welcome him to our new home in Citrus Heights and to share him with our new friends. Then of course the world changed, and with it all touring musicians have had to get creative.

Rather than the typical Facebook livestream, Craig is using Zoom for a higher-quality performance and better opportunity for audience engagement. The TrueWind Music stop on Craig's virtual tour will be hosted by Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon

How will it work?

  1. RSVP above to reserve your space (required)
  2. Download Craig's instructions on how to download and sign up for a Zoom account, and how to best configure your Zoom client for good quality audio and video.
  3. A day or two before the concert, we'll email you the Zoom "meeting' ID and password - do not share this.
  4. On Saturday May 30, settle in wherever you are, with a nice beverage and some snacks. Sign into the Zoom on your computer or tablet with your audio and video enabled and we'll all enjoy the concert together. Connect to your television for a big screen experience!
  5. Be on time! We'll do some house concert-style hob nobbing before Craig begins, and if there is a waiting list we will begin letting those folks into the Zoom at 7:10, so if you are not online by then you may lose your spot.
  6. Craig will play one set, and will interact with the audience. Note you do not have to show yourself on the video, though it is fun - like participating together at a house concert.
  7. There is no ticket fee for this concert - Craig would like to connect with everyone just as he would have done on the actual tour.
  8. If you would like to tip or make a donation, Craig's PayPal and Venmo addresses will be made available. Do not feel obligated, really. Craig wants to connect with you first and foremost.
